Our Structure
The CPS has a strategic Equality and Diversity Unit in Headquarters reporting directly to the Chief Executive and the Director of Public Prosecutions. This is a standalone Unit responsible for enabling the organisation to continuously improve its performance on equality and diversity and community engagement. The Unit does this through working in partnership with the rest of Headquarters and the wider organisation – the Director of Equality and Diversity is a member of the Corporate Development and Management Group (CDMG) and the Director’s Group.
The Equality and Diversity Unit headed by an SCS level Director has approx 15 staff comprising Policy Advisors, Strategic Performance Advisors and a small team on Violence against Women. The Unit is functionally linked to newly created Equality, Diversity and Community Engagement Managers in 15 CPS regional Groups. The Director of Equality and Diversity acts as Head of Profession for the equality and diversity function across the business.
The equality and diversity function in CPS is structured to enable a joined up approach to equality in prosecutions policy and practice, equality in employment, and community engagement to be pursued. CPS equality in employment and equality in prosecution business are firmly linked.
